Feat. Gilbert Zvamaida
Shamwari feat. Gilbert Zvamaida is its own vibe of West African and Zimbabwean grooves with a jazz harmony hot-sauce. "Shamwari" means "friends" in Shona and is a fitting name for the group which brings these three together. Gilbert and Joshua had known each other's music for a while and mentioned playing together but it was not until mutual friend Robert came with the idea of forming a trio that things took off. From the first rehearsal there was magic. Kora, guitar, and alto-flute take you through the gunk of the earth on the journey of a lifetime in minutes.
Robert and Joshua insist on featuring elder statesman, Gilbert, a man who has been playing since before the others were born but remains humble and rarely seeks the spotlight even as lead guitarist for the legendary Thomas Mapfumo's Blacks Unlimited.
