Shamwari

Feat. Gilbert Zvamaida
Shamwari feat. Gilbert Zvamaida is its own vibe of West African and Zimbabwean sounds with jazz harmony hot-sauce. Kora, guitar, and alto-flute take you through the gunk of the earth on the journey of a lifetime. "Shamwari" which means "friends" in Shona is a fitting name for the group which brings these three together. Gilbert and Joshua had known each other's music and mentioned playing together at times over the years but not been really close or taken it seriously until mutual friend Robert came with the idea of forming the trio. From the first rehearsal there was magic. Robert and Joshua insist on featuring elder statesman, Gilbert, a man who has been playing since before the others were born but remains humble and rarely seeks the spotlight even as lead guitarist for the legendary Thomas Mapfumo's Blacks Unlimited.
