Shamwari

Shamwari feat. Gilbert Zvamaida is its own vibe of West African and Zimbabwean grooves with a jazz harmony hot-sauce. "Shamwari" means "friends" in Shona and is a fitting name for the group which brings these three together. Gilbert and Joshua had known each other's music for a while and mentioned playing together but it was not until mutual friend Robert came with the idea of forming a trio that things took off. From the first rehearsal there was magic. Kora, guitar, and alto-flute take you through the gunk of the earth on the journey of a lifetime in minutes. 

Robert and Joshua insist on featuring elder statesman, Gilbert, a man who has been playing since before the others were born but remains humble and has rarely sought the spotlight even as lead guitarist for the legendary Thomas Mapfumo's Blacks Unlimited or his own group the Zig-Zag Band.
